Earthquake

There was an earthquake in Central Illinois. My wife was up for the main event but I just felt a pretty good aftershock (4.5) You can read about it on just about any major news outlet, or on my personal blog.

  1. We had a mini earthquake in Ohio back in the mid 80's No one was really sure what was going on. It was so slight. I was bathing my daughter "then 1 years old" And the bath water was sloshing back and forth. I thought maybe a big truck was going by. lol

Doesn't the Midwest have some nasty fault like called the Madrid Fault? Something like that anyway.

Glad you all are ok :)

  2. There is a fault line in southern illinois but we don't seem to get much activity.

  3. An after shock of 4.5, well for me living on the stiffest parent bedrock(I think it's called that in english)it sounds a bit too exciting.

  4. It's very unusual around here. This is the biggest quake in Central Illinois since the late 60's I believe, and the only one of significant I remember since the late 1980's.

  5. Yeah, I was reading about this on FARK earlier. We get our proverbial knickers in a twist when some roof tiles get knocked off - I know you guys can get a lot worse!

  6. We rarely get any earthquakes here... but being in the "oldest" country in the world (oldest meaning least changed by time) and having the entire country practically in the middle of the Indo-Australian tectonic plate makes earthquakes pretty much unheard of.

The worst earthquake Austalia has ever seen was only a 5.6 back in 1989 in Newcastle, NSW.

  7. It felt like a very strong wind with some shaking throne in for good measure.

  8. I had JUST crashed out at 4:00 a.m. after trying a little Sharepoint 07 and Server 08 combo then switching back. So I missed the whole thing (dead to the world when asleep). My wife, however, also experienced it and was rather freaked.

That's two Indiana earthquakes that I have either slept through or didn't feel, lol. Don't count on me in an emergency.

  9. Hey Raith,

We use Server 2003 and WSS 3.0 at work. We're going make the leap to Office 2007 this year, and Vista the following Fiscal year.

I missed the main event too. Surgery drugs. :-)
