Hythum Screen Shots and THANK YOU AMRAPHAEL!

Here are some VERY early screen shots from Hythum. Nothing polished, but I could resist showing off the amazing airships from Amraphael.

It's gonna be a while... but Darmok and I are moving forward with this project. The airships are fantastic. You can play the NWN1 version of Hythum now!

THANK YOU AMRAPHAEL.

  1. Those shots are great. The airships are brilliant; I only wish I could find a use for them myself. But I'm not sure such things exist in the Forgotten Realms...

  2. Thanks. I wish I could take credit for the airship, but 110% of the credit goes to Amraphael. The area is coming along but is only half done and has not received any 'polish' yet. I recall seeing an Airship in Icewind Dale that was set in the Forgotten Realms. Perhaps you could work it in. :-)

  3. Yes there is airships in FR! In IWD there was a crashed airship i north Kuldahar. If I remember right there was a gnome called Oswald Fiddlebench or something living in it.

And in 1144DR Ootheraum's flying airship inspired Lantanna to begin their research into flying ships.

  5. This is very interesting indeed... know anywhere where I can find a bit more info on airships in FR? Such as who has them, etc? I'll check the main source book, but I'm not sure it'll have anything...

  6. Checked it. It mentions their existence and that they are only available to powerful mages and such (which doesn't present a problem to my story), but no much else. I'll have to do some searching.

  7. I've learned a fair amount about the Forgotten Realms over the years but GASP, I grew up on Greyhawk and wasn't that big on that setting either. I wound up building a number of home grown worlds over the years.

Ambrosia and Hythum are the two that have been best developed.

Good luck with the research on FR. It's a very detailed setting. I'm sure you can find references and background information galore!

  8. I recall reading a (not so good book) called The Magehound by E Cunningham. I thing the subtitle was FR - Councelors and Kings and it was about the wizards of Halruaa which have access to flying ships. There are 3 types of such. Magically propelled conventional ship, Magically levitated with sails and Non-magial with ballons or gliders.

Sorry to hi-jack this comment thread with FR-stuff. It's all about the world of Hythum and there's probably flying ships everyday stuff. :) I belive there's also some Flathead Transportation Corp. Airships in Zork too. but I don't think I've time to research it.

  9. Please feel free to post about anything. This is an RPG/NWN blog. Any topic is open and I certainly have posted about a wide variety of topics.

I'm pleased that people take the time to post and share a bit of information here. I strongly encourage it!

  10. I'll post better screen shots as I get going. The area is only partially completed, but I HAD to show off the fabulous airships. I just couldn't wait. Kind of like a kid on Christmas.
