5e Conversion Guide for DL1 Dragons of Desolation

I have posted a 5e conversion guide for DL1 Dragons of Desolation over at DMsGuild.  Check it out!  https://www.dmsguild.com/product/357010/DL1-Dragons-of-Despair-5E-Conversion-Guide

This is a 5e D&D conversion guide of the various monsters and creatures encounters for the classic module DL1: Dragons of Despair. The original module is required to use this conversion guide and may be purchased here.

The adventure is intended for characters from 4th level to 6th level.  Conversions of the original pre-generated characters are included.

Maps have been prepared at 70 DPI of key locations. Grid and no grid variants of most maps are included. Maps provided include:

  • Xak Tsaroth – Swamp (no grid only)
  • Xak Tsaroth – Temple of Mishakal (areas 46a-46g)
  • Xak Tsaroth – Beneath the Temple (areas 47a-47j)
  • Xak Tsaroth – Middle Level (areas 51a-57b)
  • Xak Tsaroth – Lower Ruins (areas 59a-70k)

Comments

  1. Hey again Ernie,

I had a couple more comments/requests on your DL1 conversion wilderness map - but was already feeling sheepish about spamming the comments section on DMsGuild.

Also - please don't take this nitpicking in a negative way. These conversion guides are an incredibly helpful resource - a big improvement on the original maps!

    - The river running southeast toward New Ports reaches all the way to the coast on the original DL1 hexmap, but peters out several hexes west of there in the conversion guide version.
    - In the original, black triangles denoted the presence of several higher peaks; I can't spot any indication of these in the conversion guide.

    Thanks again!
    Aemon

    1. Hello Aemon, Assuming this is Cliff from over on DriveThroughRPG, I'd love to get in touch via e-mail to hear about how DL2 goes for you. It was interesting to convert, and I would be happy to share why if we can get in touch. My e-mail is ernie.noa@gmail.com If I hear from you that way, I will take down this reply to hide my e-mail address.
      Thanks,
      Ernie

  2. Hey there Aemon,

Sorry for the delayed reply, I either did not get a notification about your post or I overlooked it. I will take a look at this and release an updated copy of the map ASAP. My apologies again for taking so long to reply. I appreciate your comments and feedback.

    Take care and happy gaming.

  3. Hello Again,

Looks like you and I corresponded on DMsGuild a few days before you posted here. Did I make the corrections you were looking for on the wilderness map? Were you looking to see an indication of the taller peaks on the wilderness map? I think these are shown in the black and white version in the original module but not in the color version. Let me know.

    Thanks and happy gaming.

    Ernie
